If you’re looking to add versatility to any GSP breeding and want the swiss army knife of hunting dogs, Gunner is the definition of that. He’s low-maintenance, reliable as the day is long, and can carry a load. From retrieving mallards in frozen water, tracking Dakota pheasants in cattails, or pointing bobwhite quail on the Kansas prairie, Gunner excels in all hunting situations and conditions.
Things that stand out about him is his cooperation. He’s a dream to hunt behind and very easy to handle. Gunner is a medium working dog, ranging 75-100 yards depending on cover. No need to yell and scream for him because he will always be hunting for you! His easygoing personality, “the off switch”, is something I love about him as well. He is a joy to have in the house and loves playing with all family members.
Gunner is all business with a no BS attitude. It will be hard to find a dog with as much drive and work ethic as him. This is a dog that will hunt all day and never give up. He has that big motor every bird hunter is looking for and will eat up ground or water quickly. His ability to also track and smell wild game is one of the best I have ever seen. He is arguably one of the best wild bird dogs I have ever hunted behind. Tracking ducks is a breeze and they typically don’t stand a chance.
Mentally you want a dog that can handle high-pressure training situations and excel in adverse conditions as well. Gunner’s testing record speaks to how biddable he really is.
Lastly, this dog is as loyal and devoted as they come. He always wants to please and always wants to be with his people, which is exactly what we look for in a hunting companion. He is a once-in-a-lifetim dog and I feel very lucky to have the pleasure of owning and hunting behind him. Gunner with his looks, charm, and breeding is what sets the standard for German Shorthair Pointers!
